Rijksmuseum Bible Tour: The Bible through the Eyes of 17th-Century Painters

Experience the Rijksmuseum’s masterpieces with a guide who connects 17th-century painting to the Bible. We show how themes like faith, conscience, hope, and endurance appear in art from that period—without venerating images, but with clear, Bible-based explanations. Many visitors find this encouraging and faith-strengthening.

Specially tailored for our brothers and sisters: respect for personal conscience, clear Biblical context, and space for questions.

What you’ll experience

  • Paintings in a Biblical perspective – topics and symbolism explained with specific Scriptures.
  • Clear and respectful guidance – wording and examples align with a Biblical worldview and Christian neutrality.
